This morning as I was leaving for work, I stopped to look at a bird in the backyard and realized that dozens of warblers were flitting through the new leaves, a wave of beauty and song.
The best part:
the way they moved,
singing, through the trees.

I think I saw 2 warblers by the Trailing Yew this evening: an American Redstart and maybe a Magnolia Warbler, so fat it could barely fly. I google imaged them so I'm not certain. Yikes, all this time on Monhegan is turning me into a birder! You capture the birds so well in your haiku. Too wet for painting but a good writing day.
ReplyDeleteMonhegan turns artists into birders and birders into artists!
DeleteThe warblers are still here in Boston, though fewer than last week. Enjoy them up north! I hope one day to see/hear them migrate at night. Heard my first wood thrush the other day.
